Introduction to the Art of Perfumery Course

For centuries, the great fragrance houses have guarded the secrets of the perfumer. But creating perfume shouldn’t be reserved for the privileged few. Now you can discover the techniques behind blending beautiful accords and crafting fine fragrances of your own.

When one aroma meets another, a new scent is born. Blend them with skill and intention, and you can create perfumes with true “wow” factor—far beyond what guesswork alone can achieve.

Who is this class for?

This class is open to anyone who wishes to learn more about how to create a perfume, and especially to allow you the option to broaden your knowledge by beginning an on-going series of classes where you will focus on one perfume family alone and create a perfume accord from that family. Join us for an inspiring beginning to your own future creations. In Crave School's 5‑hour hands-on workshop you’ll gain the foundational skills to begin creating your own fragrance line—whether for pleasure or profit.

During this immersive workshop, you’ll explore:

• A brief history of perfumery and the modern science of aroma creation, including the truth about synthetics vs naturals

• Perfume families, classification, and how to train your nose

• A guided reconstruction of a version of the iconic Chanel No. 5 to understand how a perfume comes together, then how to build both simple and complex accords using the perfume pyramid (top, heart, base notes)

• You'll learn how to structure and balance a perfume, so it develops beautifully on the skin

• How to dilute and bottle your fragrance, and how different strengths (EDP, EDT, cologne) work

You’ll create your own unique perfume on the day, guided by a teacher trained by a Master Perfumer. You’ll leave with the confidence, skills, and insider knowledge to continue your journey into the world of fine fragrance creation.
